Independent Illustrator

Hi! 👋 I'm Diana, an illustrator creating nostalgic, emotionally rich visuals for editorial features, book covers, and narrative projects. I love working in projects where I can craft imagery that feels dreamlike, poetic and deeply personal.

If you're a publisher, art director or author looking for an illustrator, please get in touch and let's create something special together!

An illustrated underwater scene with marine animals, a mermaid, and Spanish text describing creation myths and ocean life.
Illustration of a woman in cloud and wave patterns with sea creatures below and a message in Spanish that says no one succeeded in reaching and seeing the lady of the wind.
A woman in a black dress smiling in a room filled with hanging lights and mirrors, creating an infinite reflections effect.

Who Am I

I’m a Mexican illustrator passionate about creating illustrations related to the ocean, memories, nostalgia and ghosts. I like to think that ghosts are less about what’s dead and more about what lingers, what stays alive in us, even after something ends. In a way, that’s also how I see good storytelling in books: it stays with you.

An art gallery with multiple whale paintings on the wall, a starry celestial ceiling with constellations and moon, and a digitally added ghostly figure with long white hair and a purple mouth standing on the floor.

The Ghost Gallery

The Ghost Gallery is collection of photographs I've transformed by digitally painting ghosts over them. What began as a nostalgic way to hold onto meaningful moments has grown into a shared space, not just of my own memories, but of stories and photos from friends as well.

What I Offer

  • Editorial Illustration

Bring written stories to life with thoughtful illustrations, perfect for books, articles, essays and visual storytelling

A wall decoration featuring a stylized woman with curly hair, jewelry, and a puffed dress, representing La Señora del Viento (The Lady of the Wind). Below her are illustrations of a pink octopus, a green shark, a purple jellyfish, and a pink mushroom. The background is purple with decorative wind and water motifs, and a quote in Spanish that translates to 'No one managed to get there and they became very sad to see La Señora del Viento.'
  • Covers

Make a lasting first impression with custom cover art that speaks to the heart of your project, such as books, zines or music albums.

An illustrated woman with short curly hair, closed eyes, and a serene expression, holding her hands in a prayer position. The background includes decorative floral and star patterns, with pink, purple, white, and gold colors creating a spiritual and peaceful atmosphere.
  • Ghost Art

Transform your memories into something beautifully haunting. I digitally paint ghosts over your personal photos to add a new meaning.

A Polaroid-style photo of a large outdoor concert at sunset with a crowd of thousands. There is a person dressed as a ghost with a glow-in-the-dark outline, holding a purple and yellow circular object. The caption reads, "Once's home is in Twice's heart."
Black and white drawing of a girl with long hair holding three star-shaped balloons, standing under a starry night sky. The girl wears a long, patterned coat and wide-brimmed pants. The artist's signature, Diana Ortiz, is in the bottom right corner.

Seeking For Representation

I’m actively seeking for representation to collaborate with a children’s book illustration agent who shares a deep passion for storytelling and visual narrative.
